THIS MUST BE THE PLACE - LINCOLN HOWARD

Lincoln Howard was born in Vancouver BC on February 23 1970. He is a mixed media abstract artist heavily influenced by abstract expressionism and the artists of that period..Lincoln likes to borrow from the artists of that art period especially Clifford Still Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock. Lincoln also delves into the vast images on Instagram and YouTube mining images and ideas from the many people and pages followed on those platforms. He often gets ideas for paintings from shapes from architecture and nature. That's what is so great about abstraction the possibilities and imagery are endless .Lincolns work incorporates a grid pattern into the bottom layer of the painting. The grid represent the matrix of our lives. The millions of twists turns and decisions we make that make up our lives. he also has discovered a paste he likes to use that gives a textural depth to his work. Lincoln is looking to incorporate collage into his future work as well as LED light fixtures .
The Title of the exhibition is" This must Be The Place", is from the Talking Heads song of the same name .I'm a child of the 1980s and get inspiration for my art and titles for my art from 1980s songs and lyrics..I like the feeling I get when I hear this song and thought This Must Be The Place would be a cool name for an exhibition.
