End of Year Show

Functional & Dysfunctional presents a selection of digital artworks by second-year students on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Graphic Design, at South Essex college.
Whilst studying at college during the COVID 19 pandemic, and experiencing two lockdowns, the students have undergone a transition from classroom and studio teaching, to learning and creating online.

The exhibition presents portraits inspired by the theme of functional and dysfunctional applied in traditional and digitally rendered media. The students have worked hard to capture the essence of their subject drawn from a broad range of personal influences and styles to reward the viewer a visually dynamic ensemble of graphic portraits. We find subjective interpretations and in contrast innovative portraits that ask questions of the viewer, but overall can be appreciated for the high standard in their execution. We wish our students every success in their future ambitions and fully expect them to continue to strive forward and embrace the challenges that lie ahead.

See the catalogue for a for full list of the artworks and, if unsure, follow the guided tour!
