How interesting can life be without curiosity? And how well can we live without optimism? Like air feeds fire, curiosity fuels optimism in us. It makes us look forward, to hope, and believe that there is more to life. Optimism becomes our strength, it braces us for each day and prepares us for what might come. In the twin spirits of curiosity and optimism, ArtFront Galleries is proud to present Ismail Odetola in his first US solo exhibition. This exhibition also has the distinction of being the first solo show of an international artist at ArtFront.

Ismail Odetola is a multidisciplinary artist and activist from Lagos, Nigeria. His work has been published and featured in international exhibitions as well as has won prizes around the world.

“I love to dare with my camera, to create something new from the original, to find meaning, especially in the complexity of reality. It is a journey of faith not knowing what lies at the end. I know my subject is everywhere and anywhere. I made it my religion to observe before I engage. I became obsessed with transformation as I dive more into these works, knowing fully well that there can never be art without transformation. And to achieve this transformation that is both cinematic, and pleasing to the eye, different elements must work together to test and affirm what is possible. My work is deep, intentional, playful, and simple. The people, places, and symbolic materials I have encountered shape my visual narrative. Colors are the passage through which my works travel. Color gives energy and excites the senses.”
