Blue Circle is a multimedia project based on fragments of the history of the inhabitants of Hyung-do Island, in Lake Shiwa (South Korea).

Blue Circle is about the disappearance of a immigrant village with 70 years of history.

Hyung Do village was a small fishing village founded in 1952 by North Korean immigrants fleeing the war.

The site of the village was sold and its inhabitants were evicted and had to sell their houses for compensation.
Each house bought was marked with a blue circle to indicate which people had to leave.

The last residents of Hyung Do were evicted in 2016.

These people conducted interviews talking about life here and explaining what the Blue Circle means.

To conduct this work I traveled twice in this village. Once for a period of three weeks in 2015, the second time in October 2019.
