The United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates project features 18 abstract paintings by artist Cecile Lobert, who lived in Abu Dhabi as a child of Belgian ambassador Henry Lobert. The project encompasses different elements of the nation. The series begins with 7 interpretations of the UAE’s colours representing the 7 Emirates of the federation; each progressively growing in abstraction. Viewers are then immersed into the natural attributes of the nation’s landscapes found by day as well as by night.

The project may be experienced from left to right or from right to left, paying tribute to cultural and perspective variables whilst simultaneously aiming at unifying them. Particularly appropriate for the Emirates’ golden jubilee, compositions are uniquely topped with plated gold leaf, exuding both present and future abundance to come.
