Pareidolia Covidya -An introduction
Pareidolia Covidya
These photographs explore ‘Pareidolia,’ which is defined as the:
‘tendency to perceive a specific, sometimes meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern’.
Pareidolia can cause people to interpret random images, or patterns of light and shadow, as faces.
Using trees as subject matter, the resulting images are intended as metaphors for the spirits of those who have passed.
Woods and forests can also be restful tranquil spaces that often provide a respite for mental health. As natural sites for serenity, they act as a venue for contemplation in the resulting series.
