Group Exhibition. 1996 - 2020.
An overview of the gallery's first twenty four years, through a selection of our favourite paintings exhibited during that time.
Included in the exhibition are works by John Alvaro Caldas,(1934-2006), Maurice Wade,(1917-1991), John Mellor,(b.1935), David Gledhill,(b.1959), Kate Davies,(1954-2019), Oliver Marsden,(b.1973) and David Hancock,(b.1973).
The Philips Art Gallery opened in 1996 with an exhibition of paintings by a handful of talented graduates from the art schools of England and Scotland. More than two decades on, twentieth century British and European art figure prominently in gallery activity alongside contemporary painting and, on occasion, photography. Over the years, little has changed. The pursuit of a certain kind of artistic excellence remains our guiding principle, enabling customers to trust our judgement in finding them the best works by artists we admire.
