48 Stunden Neukölln 2024 at LiTE-HAUS Galerie + Projektraum
LiTE-HAUS presents two exhibitions for the annual 48 Hour Neukölln Festival 2024 theme "Urbane Stille". Curated by Debbie Davies.
Room 1 "QUIET PLACE"
Three Berlin-based female artists present their visions of quiet places using different mediums.
Stephanie Bock presents square medium size paintings of the rooftops of Greece.
Rike Damel presents AI generated images of urban scenes populated by magical creatures.
Vera Leisibach presents her seasonal photos of the nearby Landwehrkanal. It is a popular location for quiet strolls where one can observe ducks and swans.
Room 2 "RUHEZEIT"
Four Berlin-based musical artists - all DJs - have stepped out of their comfort zone and created artwork on acoustic panels which are on exhibit, and are actually functional to minimize noise. DJs will perform sets during the festival weekend in one of our rooms. "Ruhezeit" refers to a rather archaic rule that requires silence during the early afternoon, to allow for rest time. This usually means no loud noises like using equipment or playing music. Music creators are often admonished when practicing during these hours. This exhibition is based on the law:
"The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) defined new requirements in its ruling of October 26, 2018 (ref.: VZR 143/17). Professional and amateur musicians must generally adhere to the lunchtime and nighttime rest periods applicable in their respective federal states . In addition, the BGH defines guidelines for making music . These are two to three hours on working days and one to two hours on Sundays and public holidays ."
