"Pride" a Celebration - Charity Exhibition for Proud Trust Manchester, England.
Welcome to this online exhibition raising awareness and funds for the PROUD Trust. The theme for the exhibition is “Pride” as as June is LGBTQ and Pride month in June in the UK & USA, (in New Zealand Pride month is February). The exhibition theme was however completely open to all forms of "pride” be that a pride of lions or pride in one’s family, achievements, culture, heritage or otherwise. We accepted quite a rainbow of colourful works, certainly made the curation challenging.
LGBTQI+ Pride month, often shortened to Pride is a month dedicated to celebration and commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual and transgender. Pride month began after the Stonewall riots, a series of gay liberation protests in 1969 in New York.
The Proud Trust is an LGBT+ youth charity empowering young people to be proud of who they are. The trust delivers youth work and one-to-one support across Greater Manchester. The charity also runs a The Rainbow Flag awards a national training and inclusion programme for schools, proud connections live chat and manages Manchester’s LGBT+ Centre 'the proud place'. (charity number: 1161102). We are proud to support Proud Trust throughout this event and have their permission to fundraise on their behalf.
