is proud to introduce

MY BODY - YOUR BODY - HER BODY

a solo exhibit by

KATI DOBROGO

"The solo exhibition entitled "My Body - Your Body - Her Body" is touching on the issues of diversity and beauty of the female body, as well as taboos related to corporeality. An exhibition of oil and watercolour paintings shows my relationship with my own body, which is sometimes very difficult, bumpy, and full of sadness. It is intended to show my path towards accepting and loving my body. In my paintings, I discuss the following topics: lack of acceptance of one's own corporeality among women, the diversity and, therefore, beauty of each body and biological processes taking place in the female body, such as menstruation and the sensations accompanying it; PMS, menstrual pain. I also want to show the other side of what happens to a woman during menstruation, that it can be a time to delve into yourself, slow down, pay attention to yourself and your needs, a time to rest, a time to let go and give yourself space to feel. Women have very different approaches to menstruation. Often, it is still taboo these days. Some would rather keep it silent, some know little about themselves, there are those who want to learn more, get to know themselves and understand themselves, and there are also those who absolutely love the time of menstruation; they are extremely connected with their own interior and body. The design of my exhibition is intended to be an answer to each of them. I would like everyone to find a part of themselves in it, which might make them stop for a moment and pay attention to themselves and/or other women."

ARTIST STATEMENT

The main exhibition focuses on women and people identifying with femininity. I want the exhibition to be accessible to people with different bodies and anyone interested in art, especially painting.

I am interested in people, especially women, how they are perceived and how they see and feel themselves. I am inspired by corporeality, sensuality, eroticism and intimacy. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by femininity and the beautiful female body. Ever since the book Discovering and Exploring Your Femininity, I have been fascinated by the vagina motif. It is a beautiful part of the female body but very underestimated. I want her beauty and the beauty of having a scale. Because every woman is different, and every fight is unique, translated and beautiful. Invalid in a world of two identical. My paintings are not literal. They present their own interpretation of corporeality and femininity.
