Byzantium 1261-1453. The Final Epoch

Between its reconquest in 1261 and its final capture by the Ottomans in 1453, Constantinople remained the capital of the Orthodox branch of Christianity. The period represented a flowering of traditional religious arts .The 32 artifacts on display in this exhibition have been assembled from sixteen churches and museums spread over nine different countries.
