CHAPTER 1 - DIALOGUE

-

Curated by:

ATOM

This collection of work celebrates the beauty and artistry of calligraphy, as a form of visual art that has been practiced for centuries in the Middle East.

Through the fusion of calligraphy with mystic poetry, ATOM explores the dynamic relationship between art and spectator on a sensory level by proposing an experience that transcends language and culture.

We co-created 11 artworks that fuse letters, aesthetic sensitivity, and original interpretation skills of 4 different Iranian artists.

Each artwork is a unique piece of art, combining the intricate beauty of calligraphy with the timeless wisdom of mystic poetry expressing deep and profound thoughts and emotions.

Working on round canvases, the artists have employed different mediums and techniques to explore the rich tradition of calligraphy, infusing it with contemporary elements and aesthetics.
The mystic poetry mostly from Rumi, speaking of love, spirituality, or the human condition adds an additional layer of meaning and significance to the calligraphy, resulting in a visual language that opens a dialogue with the viewer's heart and soul.

In spiritual traditions, the number 11 represents intuition and creativity, and is often associated with illumination, spiritual awakening, and divine inspiration.

By arranging the canvases in a circular formation, the viewers are invited to step into the center and engage with the artworks on a personal level experiencing the illuminating power of calligraphy and poetry through the number 11, hence connecting them with a higher state of consciousness.

Our choice of anonymity for this exhibition is an artistic choice of rupture, which aims to initiate an open and direct conversation with observers, affirming the power of the art and calligraphy without the attention being parasitized by the image or celebrity of the creator.
