RARE PEPE TRADING CARDS

Pepe the Frog is a popular meme, originating from the Play Time, and Boy's Club comics created by Matt Furie in 2005.

Over time, Pepe has gained significant virality as it has evolved through appropriation by various communities, including a decentralised collective of artists that have issued 'Rare Pepe Trading Cards' using the Bitcoin blockchain and an NFT platform called Counterparty back in 2016.

Rare Pepe Trading Cards are cards depicting the infamous frog.
An entire ecosystem has evolved around the frog, also known as the Pepeverse.

In recent years, Pepe has gained increased notoriety. While other memes meander off to irrelevancy, alterations to Pepe that include additional context for various cultural, political and social trends keep Pepe relevant.

However, the international Federation of Pepe Distribution and its board members has stressed its position that: "..though this gives creative freedom to artists to use Pepe for less than popular expressions, it does not by its own merit imply that Pepe the Frog has a sinister undertone steeped in racism, bigotry, or injustice" and that "any and all Pepe cards that convey ‘hateful messages’ or ‘bad feels’ are not part of the official Rare Pepe Trading Card corpus and cannon on PepeSV”.

The Counterfeit Rares Museum attempts to fork Pepe’s original dankness onto the PepeSV blockchain, and to bring scalability to Pepe’s rareness.

Please consider donating PepeSV to rarepepemuseum@moneybutton.com to support the continued existance of the Rare Pepe Museum on PepeSV.
Submissions for Counterfeit Rares are also accepted for curation.
