Artist In Residence 2021 | Godwin Bradbeer

We are excited to present this survey exhibition of selected artworks by Godwin Bradbeer, our Artist-in-Residence in the Senior School for semester 1.

Godwin has held over forty solo exhibitions since 1977, including “The Metaphysical Body – A Survey”. His work has been shown at the Art Gallery of NSW in the Dobell Drawing Award, the national award for drawing in Australia. Godwin won that prize in 1998 and has subsequently been included a further eleven times. He recently exhibited at La Capitale Galerie in Paris and is currently working towards an exhibition of drawings to be held at James Makin Gallery in September.

His work is held in permanent collections, including the Australian National Gallery, the National Gallery of Victoria, The Art Gallery of NSW, the Art Gallery of South Australia, Parliament House in Canberra, Lim Lip Museum (Korea), Korean Art Institute, the University of Western Carolina (USA) and other public and private collections.

Godwin stayed with us for ten days over a three-week period in May. During his residency, he worked closely with senior students, engaging them in discussion about their own work, and introducing new processes and practices during classes. He spoke of his inspirations in his professional career and showed examples of his past and current work. He also guided several classes through collaborative mural projects, the results of which can be seen in this exhibition.
