Metaphysics

“Art is art. Everything else is everything else” - Reinhardt. This exhibition is a creative platform for Hoover’s art department, the pieces being showcased give insight on the unique perceptions each person has on the world. Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy that deals with the first principles of things, including abstract concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space. Abstract concepts and symbols are found in all forms of art, and it is exceptionally prominent in our Metaphysics gallery. Concepts such as identity, time, and space can be conveyed through the shapes, colors, and form found in all kinds of artwork. Art allows us to express a multitude of emotions and ideas through various forms of media. It unites the community together, as it allows us to share the world through our eyes, and allows us to enjoy the art of others. Art can be realistic, abstract, formed with clay, or photographed. There are no boundaries to the imagination that we withhold. Art can help define reality and our understanding of it, therefore art is unicent to metaphysics. Metaphysical art is also a style that was developed during the Italian Art movement. Artists during this movement composed paintings that involved buildings and statues that were in strange juxtapositions. The form, shapes, and use of space, created a world that was beyond physical reality. This exhibition is a gateway to new realities, as we dive into the world of each artwork that is displayed.
