Exhibition | Jef Geys

Since 1947, Jef Geys (1934 - 2018) registers, takes photographs, films and makes an inventory of the daily life. Or, as he says himself, "the serial, monotone passing of time". Doing so, he considers the question "whether his work is art or not" irrelevant.

He denies making a difference between high and low culture. Besides his work as a photographer and film director, he made some 400 numerical and classified art works, representing for example paintings of little bags with flower seeds or the placement of security camera's in private houses.

Although he never profiled himself as a renowned artist, his work gets a lot of appreciation in Belgium and abroad because of his controversial and political character.
