An International Art Exhibition and Global Competition, Honoring the Beauty of Sign Languages Around the World. International Week of the Deaf is the only week in a year that sees highly concerted global advocacy to raise awareness about the Deaf Community on different levels. Celebrated the last full week of September since 2009.
Visual voices deserve to be seen. In honor of International Day of Sign Languages, we invited artists worldwide to submit innovative interpretations of sign language for a special exhibition. This is an opportunity to showcase sign language in all its beauty and complexity through original artwork across any medium. This is vital nonverbal communication, stunning visual art created by 19 international artists.
This Global Art Competition is an attempt to create awareness about the challenges and triumphs of the hard of hearing across the globe. Art with this topic in mind generates stronger awareness in people, that people with disabilities remain creative no matter the challenge.
