Flat Caps and Nuclear Explosions
In 1969, sixteen years after President D. Eisenhower stood before the United Nations and announced a bold new initiative called "Atoms for Peace", British scientists proposed the peaceful use of nuclear explosions in the United Kingdom.
The proposed sites for such an event would be somewhere in Yorkshire. Being a patriotic Yorkshireman, the subject piqued my curiosity, and I decided to further investigate it. After visiting the National Archives, I found documents relating to the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Explosions; the rumour was true.
The intention was to raise eyebrows; these Kodak Aerochrome Infrared negatives might have been found in one of the British scientists' desk drawers.
The delivery of the project is one of satire.
