"SLAVERY AND RECONSTRUCTION"

Art has always been a universal tool for artists to display a wide range of emotions, scenes, and events. Depending on the taste and style of the artist, history has left important artworks that help us understand the landscape of a particular era.
Unfortunately, history has always been cruel, and the selected topics for the artworks were not always that pleasant. This includes the topic of slavery, which was no exception when it came to genre and historical paintings.
Many artists, both black and white, have chosen the diaspora, slavery, civil war, and reconstruction as a way of documenting the “original sin” upon which our nation was built.
