Global Stories

The purpose of this exhibition is to discuss, through the lenses of activism and self-exploration, the perspective of immigration, identity, and the experience of Latinax people. The works also depict the complexities of identity for Chicanx individuals, who frequently feel caught between their Mexican heritage and their American experience. This feeling is portrayed through the pieces as a feeling of being "caught between." The artists place a significant emphasis on the process of healing. The very process of making art can be thought of as a rite of passage. A regimen consisting of self-care and healing practices. The artists' individual histories have played a significant role in shaping their preoccupation with healing and various forms of care, which in turn serves as the basis for their investigations into sculpture, performance, photography, and ritual.
