ProjectArt

ProjectArt’s talented 2021-2022 resident artist cohort taught and mentored ProjectArt students, ages 4-18. Our resident artists are a conduit to the transformative power of arts education and its ability to foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and intercultural dialogue. These artists create and deliver learning experiences that engage their students in challenging projects, specifically designed for their stage of development. These learning experiences also broaden students' perspectives, strengthen their peer-to-peer collaboration skills, foster social-emotional growth, and encourage varied problem-solving strategies. Their teachings emphasize healthy self-expression and offer students a space to be vulnerable and "make mistakes" without fear of judgment.

ProjectArt’s resident artists are culturally responsive, contemporary artists chosen by a jury of regional curators, gallerists, and art world professionals. The ProjectArt artist residency promotes a symbiotic relationship among artists, the nation’s public libraries, and ProjectArt’s students. Since the residency started in 2016, ProjectArt has provided over 100 library residencies in nine cities. As a part of their residency experience, our artists created meaningful pieces of art that culminated group exhibition.
