本攝影展為｜柬式符號Symbodia｜深耕柬埔寨十年的攝影紀錄，是廣泛搜羅龐大影像資料庫中部分未曾公開的影像。我們希望透過攝影之窗、藝文之眼，讓柬埔寨蘊藏的多變民間生活風貌，帶領大眾走入庶民生活肌理，進而達到跨文化對話。透過視讀理解與連結彼此的這段影像路程，其實並沒有想像中遠。
Southeaster: The Vernacular Art in Cambodia
What is your first impression of Cambodia? Angkor Wat, floating villages on the Tonle Sap Lake, the Little Paris during the French colonial era, the historical tragedy of the Khmer Rouge, pepper, cashew nuts, or palm sugar? In this secret realm of the Indochina Peninsula, what else is there waiting for exploration? What do the people and customs there have to do with us? Let's ride on the Southeaster and have a look!
This photography exhibition is the first public disclosure of the huge image database collected by Symbodia. Symbodia has spent more than ten years in Cambodia, catching the rapidly changing face of this kingdom of wonder. We hope that through the window of photography and the eye of art, we can better present the everyday living of the Khmer people. And hence facilitate cross-cultural understanding. The journey of building mutuality might not be as hard as we think.
