Meet The Fellows
Bakanal de Afrique (BdA), is a multidisciplinary Afro Urban festival by Afro Urban Society that brings us together across cultures, and showcases new, emerging and underground urban art, culture and people through performance, workshops, visual media and conversations.
VISIT www.bakanaldeafrique.com FOR THE FULL FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE and other events happening throughout the month.
Bakanal de Afrique 'Mi Soon Come 2020' explores the intersections of urban transportation with culture, class and citizenship. Participating artists from various locales around the world created work and experiences speaking to the theme and exploring questions such as:
How do vehicles act as a medium for artistic and cultural expression?
What memorable personal or historical occurrences took place facilitated by vehicles?
What are the unique experiences and expressions of transportation as it relates to specific localities?
How is transportation a factor in how we experience class, gender, and time?
What is transportation’s kinship to global economics, underground currency, and geo-politics?
What are the environmental and social impacts of the vehicle production industry?
This is where they arrived. For Now.
