Be Present 30th Anniversary Virtual Exhibition 2022

This Exhibition celebrates more than 30 years of leadership- and community-building work, starting with Black women and girls, and integrating a diverse community that includes all races, genders, and classes of people. Over the span of almost four decades, Be Present has supported the work of a wide diversity of leaders in the social justice movement. In the 30 years since Be Present was officially established, we have been at the forefront of the movement to raise the awareness of Black women’s leadership as a crucial element toward a just world. Specifically highlighted in this Exhibit is the leadership of Black women in partnering with people of all backgrounds to create change that serves everyone in our communities. The roots of Be Present are traced to Trainer and Social Change Activist Lillie P. Allen’s groundbreaking Black & Female: What is the Reality? TM workshop held at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983.
