Katya Olive (Curated by Margo Grant and Neal Tolunsky)

Katya Olive is a bilingual New York immigrant, poet, model, NYC nightlife's #1 door-person these days and simply a dreamer. Her entire life she has been surrounded by art, music, and fashion, which have always been her passion and way of life. At the start of the pandemic she distinguished herself as an emerging, abstract textile artist based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Now her works have been seen in Garner Art Center (New York), Art Basel 2021 at ArtHood 56 Gallery (Miami), and in various private art collections. The title of this exhibition is “Raw.” It embodies the tension between a harsh, cut-throat world, on the one hand, and the tenderness and subtlety of small effects born of geometric figures, splashes of paint, pieces of string and nails—out of all this, harmony emerges organically.
This is the beginning of a whole new chapter in Katya’s life, which she is ready to share with the world.
