The Kiss Interpreted

The Kiss is a very famous painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt which he painted around 1907. Currently it is hanging in the Austrian Belvedere Gallery in Vienna and millions of people visit every year just to get a glimpse of this greatly loved and appreciated masterpiece. It is a 1.8x1.8m piece painted with oil on canvas and embellished in gold leaf, platinum and silver with patterns reflecting the Art Nouveau style of that period.
So in this mini virtual exhibition, I have asked Arab Artists to reinterpret this masterpiece using their own style, technique and media. It was remarkably interesting to see how some even reinterpreted the idea of the kiss to reflect the culture we live in. Hope you enjoy the show.
