Indigenous Motherhood, Matriarchy and Womxnhood - 3D virtual exhibition by Studio C Prospect Gallery
Indigenous Motherhood, Matriarchy and Womxnhood
"Inspired by the recent birth of my son,
this exhibition explores motherhood, matriarchy and womxnhood through an Indigenous lens. Colonialism has profoundly impacted the matriarchal systems, traditional child rearing practices and the gendered identities of Indigenous womxn.
Despite this, Indigenous womxn display a fierce resilience; providing strength to our communities and passing on wisdom for generations to come. This exhibition brings together the artwork of 23 Indigenous artists of diverse artistic practices and backgrounds from across Turtle Island." -Autumn Whiteway (Night Singing Woman)
