CREATIVE INSIGHTS
Cardiff and Vale Adult Eating Disorders Service Website
As part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week this March, we are delighted to be showcasing in the Plaza Space the Creative Insights exhibition which celebrates the launch of the new Cardiff and Vale Adult Eating Disorders Service Website.
Over the last year a group of people with lived experiences, artists, film-makers, counsellors, psychologists and a dietitian came together in collaboration with web designer Rhys Welsh from Web Design Cardiff, to develop a new website for Cardiff and Vale Adult Eating Disorders Service (C&VAEDS). The psychologists and dietician involved in this project all work within C&VAEDS and consulted regularly with the team many of whom have had experience of receiving treatment from the service.
Art workshops during Lockdown
The group met initially in Severn Road Community Centre, but when lockdown happened, successfully transferred the creative sessions to an online platform. They met weekly and worked alongside facilitators Katja Stiller and Sarah Featherstone to relax with mindfulness, find their creative flow in writing and drawing and to share their experiences and positive coping mechanisms. During each session the group discussed a theme centred on health and wellbeing and produced a piece of creative writing that reflected their own experiences for the website. The sessions concluded with participants creating a drawing or painting on the theme. As individuals were working from home, packs of art materials were sent out to them so there was the option to use a range of materials to create work. The pieces created varied in medium from photography to text art and line drawings such as the beautiful butterfly logo. The group formed a special bond, supporting each other through lockdown. The participants reported that they were grateful to have something positive to focus on in a safe space, and to ‘give something back’.
“The overall experience has been truly remarkable for me. I have made some genuine friendships and have met people that make me feel that I am able to be myself. These people continue to inspire me daily. Each and every member of the team are really extraordinary people and I deem myself exceptionally lucky and fortunate to have had this opportunity.” - Participant
The artwork within this exhibition are the results of these sessions and have been used within the design of the new website, creating a user friendly, engaging and informative website for any individual seeking support, advice, insights and expertise.
The creative sessions and artistic contribution was supported by Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and the website was supported by Tanio.

MEWNWELEDIAD CREADIGOL
Gwefan Gwasanaeth Anhwylderau Bwyta i Oedolion Caerdydd a’r Fro
Yn rhan o’r Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Anhwylderau Bwyta ym mis Mawrth, rydym yn falch iawn o fod yn rhan o arddangosfa Mewnwelediad Creadigol yr ardal Plaza sy’n dathlu lansiad Gwefan Gwasanaeth Anhwylderau Bwyta i Oedolion newydd Caerdydd a’r Fro.
Dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf, mae grŵp o bobl â phrofiadau unionyrchol, artistiaid, gwneuthurwyr ffilm, cwnselwyr, seicolegwyr a dietegydd wedi dod ynghyd i gydweithio â Rhys Welsh, dylunydd gwe o Web Design Cardiff, i ddatblygu gwefan newydd ar gyfer Gwasanaeth Anhwylderau Bwyta i Oedolion Caerdydd a’r Fro (C&VAEDS). Mae’r seicolegwyr a’r dietegydd sy’n rhan o’r prosiect i gyd yn gweithio o fewn C&VAEDS ac wedi ymgynghori’n gyson â’r tîm, gyda nifer ohonynt wedi cael profiad o dderbyn triniaeth gan y gwasanaeth.
Gweithdai celf yn ystod y Cyfnod Clo
Gwnaeth y grŵp gyfarfod yn gyntaf yng Nghanolfan Gymunedol Severn Road, ond pan ddechreuodd y cyfnod clo, bu’n rhaid trosglwyddo’r sesiynau creadigol i lwyfan ar-lein a digwyddodd hynny yn llwyddiannus iawn. Roeddent yn cwrdd yn wythnosol ac yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â’r hwyluswyr Katja Stiller a Sarah Featherstone i ymlacio gan ddefnyddio ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar, canfod eu llif creadigol wrth ysgrifennu a darlunio, a rhannu eu profiadau a mecanweithiau ymdopi cadarnhaol. Yn ystod pob sesiwn, bu’r grŵp yn trafod thema a oedd yn canolbwyntio ar iechyd a lles ac yn creu darn o waith ysgrifennu creadigol a oedd yn adlewyrchu eu profiadau eu hunain ar gyfer y wefan. Daeth y sesiynau i ben gyda’r cyfranwyr yn creu darlun neu baentiad ar y thema. Gan fod unigolion yn gweithio gartref, anfonwyd pecynnau o ddeunyddiau celf atynt fel bod ganddynt yr opsiwn o ddefnyddio ystod o ddeunyddiau i greu gwaith. Roedd y darnau a grëwyd yn amrywio o ran eu cyfrwng o ffotograffiaeth i gelf testun, a darluniau llinell megis y logo pili-pala hardd. Gwnaeth y grŵp ffurfio perthynas arbennig, gan gefnogi ei gilydd trwy gydol y cyfnod clo. Yn ôl y cyfranwyr, roeddent yn ddiolchgar fod ganddynt rywbeth cadarnhaol i ganolbwyntio arno mewn man diogel, ac i ‘roi rhywbeth yn ôl’.
“Mae’r profiad cyffredinol wedi bod yn rhyfeddol i fi. Rydw i wedi creu ffrindiau am oes a chwrdd â phobl sy’n gwneud i mi deimlo fy mod i’n gallu bod yn fi fy hun. Mae’r bobl yma’n parhau i fy ysbrydoli bob dydd. Mae pob un aelod o’r tîm yn bobl gwirioneddol anhygoel ac rydw i’n ystyried fy hun yn eithriadol o lwcus a ffodus o fod wedi cael y cyfle yma.” - Cyfranogwr
Y gwaith celf yn yr arddangosfa hon yw ffrwyth llafur y sesiynau hyn a defnyddiwyd y gwaith fel rhan o ddyluniad y wefan newydd, gan greu gwefan sy’n hawdd i’w defnyddio, yn ymgysylltu ac yn ddefnyddiol i unrhyw unigolyn sy’n chwilio am gefnogaeth, cyngor, mewnwelediad ac arbenigedd.
Cefnogwyd y sesiynau creadigol a’r cyfraniad artistig gan Elusen Iechyd Caerdydd a’r Fro a Tanio oedd yn gyfrifol am y wefan.
