ArtWorks Together - Creativity in Lockdown

70 artists with learning disabilities and autism from South Yorkshire based arts organisation ArtWorks have organised an online exhibition showcasing the artworks they have created whilst shielding during lockdown. The pieces vary in medium, including both two and three-dimensional work.

During the lockdown, the artists have been using materials sent out by ArtWorks to create inspiring individual projects, complete submissions for various competitions, as well as engage in Zoom sessions led by the ArtWorks staff. The artists have shown great creativity and resilience navigating these strange times, and have channeled this into the incredible pieces in this exhibition. This set of work differs from anything which ArtWorks has previously exhibited, as it was created in the contexts of the artists’ own homes. As a result, the uniqueness of each artist's style and the character of each individual has become even more prominent. Now that we are able to physically meet again, we are excited to develop these skills and ideas further in the coming months!

Alongside creating artwork, a small group of our artists, now known as The Bradgate Band, have also written, recorded, and composed their own album titled ‘Livin la Vida Lockdown’.
