Dear Terry... - 3D virtual exhibtion by teresa williams

Dear Terry...

How much do we remember or believe when we look at family albums? Are they only a place to store fond memories rather than the ones we choose to forget? What do the empty spaces in between them signify?

This exhibition explores the absent as well as the present in a set of found albums, using the original photographs as stimuli for imagining the 'untold' or 'suggested'. I do not know the character in the albums, there were no clues to his name. I have tried to portray him as a family-loving man.

Only four of the original photos are shown here, the rest of the exhibit has been made during my current MA Photography module at Falmouth. I have a performative role in some of them.

The titles of my images come from collaborations with fifteen others - I asked them to send me a postcard message, choosing five key words from a longer list. I then used parts of what they wrote as a narrative device.

The theme of roses run throughout, I see them as symbolising beauty, joy, life, memory.
