Boats By Artist Lobna Al Amin
In my work, boats are not just visual elements – they are the essence of the artwork and the motivations for embarking on new beginnings. They embody hope, life, and the profound ability to transport us to different shores of the self. They are vessels of transition, tools for exploration and rediscovery, gently leading us toward the unknown, towards the light within the mystery. Each boat narrates a story, and each story is a new beginning. These symbols encapsulate the energy of transformation, carrying a postponed dream and a profound longing to comprehend what lies beyond the horizon.
Through color and collage, the map of life takes form within the depth of these layered boats. Each layer is a trace of an experience, a memory, or a feeling. My paintings are constructed from scraps and images – overlapping, sometimes contradicting – yet ultimately forming a visual entity with a human fingerprint. Collage is not just a technique but a reflection of how we humans are shaped: from layers, from stories, from moments that are both fragile and powerful. Within this accumulation, questions arise, and wonder is born.
The rhythm and whisper of the sea permeate my soul and resonate throughout my work. Abstract boats become vessels of memory, silent symbols that hide within them the details of personal journeys and collective heritage. Symbols such as barcodes and geometric lines act as new maps of an ever-evolving identity – evoking maritime memory without replicating it, whispering their secrets to those who listen closely to what lies between the layers.
My work strikes a delicate balance between spontaneity and awareness, where materials dance between fluidity and structure, like ocean waves. I use acrylics, collages, and mixed media to accumulate, build time, and reflect on the layers. My color palette echoes the sea—its sands, its charcoal, and the deep blues of its depths. These elements unify land and water, reshaping moments of belonging and seeking.
My paintings provoke questions rather than answers. In them, you will find hidden, forgotten stories in texture script, recalled space-time, and revived moments.
In my art, the boat is more than a means of passage; it symbolizes the human journey in all its questions and yearning to understand the self and the world. It is a rebellion against ready-made answers and a celebration of the uniqueness of each voyage. Just as the first human painted on the cave walls in search of meaning, I paint in an ongoing dialogue with the present and the absent, with the known and the unknown. My journey with color and collage is a continuous search for a visual language of my own – where silence holds meaning, color becomes a question, and the path remains open to discovering what has yet to be seen.

القوارب في أعمالي ليست مجرد عناصر بصرية، بل هي روح العمل ومفاتيح عبور نحو بدايات جديدة. تحمل في طيّاتها الأمل والحياة، وتنقلنا – دون أن نشعر – إلى ضفافٍ أخرى من الذات. هي أدوات للعبور، للبحث، ولإعادة الاكتشاف، تقودنا برفق نحو المجهول، نحو الضوء وسط الغموض. كل قارب حكاية، وكل حكاية ولادة جديدة. إنها رموز تختزن طاقة التحول، وتحمل معها حلماً مؤجلاً، وحنيناً دفيناً لفهم ما وراء الأفق
في عمق هذه القوارب، وبين طبقات اللون والكولاج، تتشكل خريطة الحياة. كل طبقة هي أثر من تجربة، ذكرى، أو شعور. كما تبنينا الحياة بالتجارب والمواقف، تبني لوحاتي من قصاصات وصور، تتداخل وتتناقض، لكنها في نهاية الأمر تخلق كياناً بصرياً يحمل بصمة إنسانية. الكولاج هنا ليس مجرد تقنية، بل انعكاس لكيفية تكوّننا نحن كبشر: من طبقات، من حكايات، من لحظات هشّة وقوية في آنٍ واحد. وفي هذا التراكم، تنشأ الأسئلة وتولد الدهشة
إيقاع البحر وهمسه يتسلل إلى روحي، ويجد صداه في لوحاتي. تتحول القوارب المجردة إلى أوعية للذاكرة، إلى رموز صامتة تُخبئ في أعماقها تفاصيل الرحلة الشخصية والموروث الجمعي. أما الرموز مثل الباركود والخطوط الهندسية، فهي خرائط جديدة لهوية في تحوّل دائم، تستحضر الذاكرة البحرية، دون أن تنسخها، وتبوح بأسرارها لمن يصغي لما بين الطبقات
أعمالي هي توازن بين العفوية والوعي، حيث تتراقص المواد بين الانسياب والانضباط، مثل أمواج البحر. استخدم الأكريليك، والكولاج، والمواد المختلفة التي تتراكم وتبني طبقات من الزمن والتأمل. ألواني مأخوذة من صدى البحر: رماله، فحمه، زرقة أعماقه. عناصر توحد اليابسة بالماء، وتُعيد تشكيل لحظاتٍ من الانتماء والبحث. لا أرسم لأقدم إجابات، بل لأفتح أبواب التساؤل. في الملمس والحرف والفراغ، تختبئ حكايات منسية، يُستحضر بها الزمن، وتُستعاد بها اللحظات
القارب في أعمالي هو أكثر من وسيلة عبور؛ هو رمز للرحلة الإنسانية بكل ما تحمله من تساؤلات، وتوقٍ لفهم الذات والعالم. هو احتجاج على الإجابات الجاهزة، وتأكيد على أن كل رحلة فريدة. كما رسم الإنسان الأول على جدران كهفه بحثاً عن المعنى، أرسم أنا في محاولة لحوار ممتد مع الحاضر والغائب، مع المعلوم والمجهول. رحلتي مع اللون والكولاج بحثٌ مستمر عن لغة بصرية خاصة، حيث يصبح الصمت معنى، واللون سؤالاً، والطريق مفتوحاً لاكتشاف ما لم يُرَ بعد
