Images Of Black American People From Around NC - I Remember Our History ® The G. C, and Frances Hawley Museum® - North Carolina Black History

The images in this exhibit are of Black people from around North Carolina that have little to no information about them that we could find so far. With some of them the name of the photographer is provided, and with some we know more about the photographer than we know about the person photographed. There are some we don't know who the photographer is, but we know the town/city of North Carolina it was taken.

There are several reasons why photographers didn't add names, dates, etc... on the photographs they took of Black North Carolinians. It could be they didn't ask the name of the person. Or, they did and didn't write the name on the photograph. Or, they did write it down, but it was misplaced.
