SHERYL LUXENBURG: Full Exposure
Our 6th Virtual Exhibition features 17 Preparatory Drawings by renown Canadian hyperrealist painter Sheryl Luxenburg.
A prior career in psychotherapy, specializing in trauma, as well as her own emotional journey, have deeply influenced her work. Her female subjects in 11 of the drawings all portray some type of emotional distress, such as confusion, dread, conflict, anger or numbness. The remaining 6 works are Architectural Drawings, depicting historic architecture in Manhattan, Montreal, Paris and Havana.
Luxenburg's work is technically impeccable and her style is uniquely her own, her flattened depiction of space almost impossible to distinguish from reality. The watercolor and ink drawings in this exhibitions served as preparatory drawings to her sought after and internationally collected acrylic on linen paintings.
